bulatja

Found around the western and eastern coasts of north Australia, bulatja is silvery grey with tinges of bronze, copper and red-brown. Commonly mistaken for another game fish, djembirri (red mangrove jack), bulatja is also known as grey snapper and can be tricky to spearfish, demonstrating a keen wariness around divers as it ages and grows. This makes bulatja  difficult to hunt – even more so, as they like to hide in and around nooks and reefs.
