Each school holidays, kids aged 8–14 can learn new creative skills with industry professionals and educators in our hands-on workshops.

The museum runs different 1 and 2 day workshops every school holidays. 

Photography gel printing

1 day workshop

Wednesday 1 or Thursday 2 October
10.00am – 4.00pm 

Be inspired by the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition and the museum's scenic surrounds as you adventure on a photo shoot in and around the museum. Explore harbour views through the camera’s lens as you go on outdoor photo shoots and master the art of shooting various subjects in different environments.

Then experiment with gel printing techniques to transform your photographs into colourful, wearable works of art. Take home your newly handprinted t-shirt decorated with your very own photography design.

Suitable for all experience levels.

Whale song DJ - digital music and animation

1 day workshop

Tuesday 7 or Thursday 9 October 
10.00am – 4.00pm 

Remix, reverb and record your own aquatically inspired songs and make animated videos in a fun filled digital music making workshop. Learn to use underwater technology including hydrophones and underwater drones to explore and record the world beneath the surface. Take your compositions to the next level by creating digital animations for your own music video. Have your finished work showcased on YouTube for family and friends to enjoy!

General information

  • Please arrive in the museum foyer for registration 5–10 minutes prior to the program
  • Parents/carers will be required to sign permission forms on the day
  • Participants are fully supervised at all times during the programs
  • Participants should bring their own drinks, lunch and snacks
  • Please wear suitable clothing, sturdy shoes and sun protection for any time spent outdoors
  • All workshop materials are supplied
  • No printed tickets are necessary, we will check in via the guestlist
