Be a shark scientist for a day with Melissa Cristina Márquez

Meet marine scientist, shark expert and children's book author Melissa Cristina Márquez in this special Science Week session!
Melissa will share her beautiful picture book Mother of Sharks, discuss her work as a shark scientist, and explain why sharks are so important to healthy oceans. She’ll also touch on the threats sharks face today and how we can all help protect these fascinating creatures.
Students will get creative by designing their own fictional shark species—drawing and describing its habitat, diet, and special adaptations.
There will also be time for students to ask Melissa all their shark, marine science, or science communicator questions!
