Discover the vessels of Norman R. Wright & Sons at the Australian National Maritime Museum this summer. For more than 117 years, this Brisbane-based family business has played a significant role in Australian boatbuilding, producing everything from small tenders to large luxury yachts for use along the coast and on inland waterways.
The Wright family’s approach combines traditional craftsmanship with evolving marine technology. Across generations, their workshop has also trained skilled boatbuilders who later carried their expertise throughout Australia, extending the company’s influence well beyond Queensland.
This summer display offers a close look at the design, construction and legacy of Norman R. Wright & Sons, showcasing boats that have supported working life, recreation and leisure on the water for more than a century.
