Out of Sight, Out of Mind

10 March 2022 – 29 May 2022

EXHIBITION CLOSED

Ever wondered what it would be like to sneak a peek below the waves of Bondi, the Great Barrier Reef or to venture farther afield underwater? Imagine coming face to face with a humpback whale or exploring Sydney’s seaweed beds as if you were a fish.

Using QR codes visitors will be transported into interactive images allowing you to explore unique underwater worlds, experiencing the diversity and curiosity of life under the waves. You will be reminded of the importance of the ocean; the issues it faces, the critical work being done to protect it and what we can do to help care for it.

Underwater Earth pioneered underwater Google Street View in 2011 and has since captured over a million panoramic images with their unique proprietary underwater cameras. Their lead underwater photographer and explorer, Christophe Bailhache, showcases a selection of his unique panoramic images taken during ten years of expeditions. Also on display is the SVII camera he co-invented that allowed him to capture these immersive images.

Out of Sight, Out of Mind is brought to you by Underwater Earth, opening to coincide with the Volvo Ocean Lovers Festival Blue Solutions Summit. Curated by Lorna Parry, this exhibition reveals what there is to admire, love and protect in the ocean.
