A world of wildlife: From the desk of Bailey

When I first came to work here, my human colleagues had strict instructions never to let me inside the actual museum. Ha! That didn’t last long. My furry charm worked its magic, and today , after I’d had my bath and was all squeaky clean, I was invited to review our exhibition Wildlife Photographer of the Year.

I am only three, and haven’t seen much of the world, but this exhibition shows just how diverse the planet, its creatures and their environments are. It features photographs of many places I didn’t even know existed – from deserts to jungles to the polar regions – and many creatures I will never encounter. (Who knew there was an animal called a hellbender?!)

Of course I was mostly interested in the pictures of other animals, especially birds, but there are also many beautiful landscapes and abstract images. And along with the photos, there are natural history specimens, too. Imagine my excitement when I saw a gigantic seagull. (One of my colleagues told me it’s an albatross, but she hasn’t chased as many seagulls as I have, so I reckon she’s barking up the wrong tree.)
