Museum to Offer Chinese Language Tours for Chinese New Year 2018

To celebrate Chinese New Year 2018, the Australian National Maritime Museum is launching a new, specially-designed product to welcome its Chinese visitors, the Endeavour Highlights Tour. From 1 February – 28 February 2018, the museum will offer Chinese language guided tours of the museum’s main galleries, exhibitions and attractions.

Remembering Mabo – rooftop projection showing 26th January

February 23, 2018

The Australian National Maritime Museum’s iconic rooftop, evoking sails and waves, will be illuminated this summer with two projections each sharing important stories in Australia’s maritime history. Premiering on 26th of January, Remembering Mabo reflects on the historic Mabo decision and the Native Title ruling. It will be screened in conjunction with the award winning Waves of Migration, exploring the history of migration to Australia.

New date for opening of Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition

The world-renowned exhibition, on loan from the Natural History Museum in London, will open at the Australian National Maritime Museum on 13 April 2018 in time for the school holidays. The 100 extraordinary images celebrate the diversity of the natural world, from intimate animal portraits to astonishing wild landscapes.

Celebrate the Year of the Dog

To celebrate this Lunar New Year – the Year of the Dog – the Australian National Maritime Museum is hosting a ‘pawesome’ family event on Sunday 4th March. Museum working dog Bailey, Assistant Director of Seagulls, invites children and dog lovers to bring their four legged friends to the museum precinct and enjoy activities inspired by animals featured in our exhibitions. Learn animal stories through performances, tours, trails, face painting, dress ups and creative crafts.

The Australia National Maritime Museum is delighted to be offering visitors the opportunity to climb on board legendary maxi yacht Wild Oats XI as it visits the museum this Australia Day weekend. From 26 – 28 January visitors can discover what life on a high-seas racer is like by speaking to representatives of Wild Oats XI who will be conducting tours of the vessel.
