Every school holidays, we host full-day workshops for kids to learn creative skills. Aimed at kids aged 8-14, courses include photography, animation, print-making and videography. These autumn holidays join us for two 2-day workshops in photography and videography, or a 1-day workshop on claymation.

 

Cockatoo Island Escapade - 1 day Photography Workshop

Cockatoo Island Photography Workshop 

Wednesday 10 July & Wednesday 17 July, 10am – 4.30pm

Ferry to the spectacular Cockatoo Island shipyards for an adventurous photography workshop. Build skills in using digital SLR cameras and manual modes - aperture, shutter speed, macro and more - as you explore this fascinating maritime location. Then, have your best images displayed in a special exhibition at the museum. 

Suitable for all levels of experience. 
Price includes ferry transport, digital files of all your photos and 2 large format prints.

Underwater Explorers - 2 Day TV Presenting Workshop

Wednesday 17 - Thursday 18 July, 10am – 4.30pm

Explore the world beneath the harbour's surface as you capture footage on our underwater drones, then use it to create your own imaginative TV segments inspired by ocean environments. Learn clever techniques in green-screen, scripting, directing, acting and film-making as you produce creative digital stories. Then, have your finished work displayed for family and friends in a special-event cinema screening.

General information

  • Arrive in the museum foyer for registration 5–10 minutes prior to the program.

  • Parents/carers will be required to sign permission forms on the day.

  • Participants are fully supervised for this program.

  • Participants should bring their own lunch/snacks.

  • All equipment for the workshop is provided.

  • Wear suitable clothing, sturdy shoes and sun protection for outdoors
