Each school holidays, kids aged 8–14 can learn new creative skills with industry professionals and educators in our hands-on workshops.
The museum runs different 1 and 2 day workshops every school holidays.
Comic Creations - Illustration workshop
1 day workshop
10am – 4pm
Spend a day drawing, storytelling and creating comics with illustrators from Cockatoo Comics.
Inspired by graphic novelist Sam Wallman’s work in the exhibition A View from the Docks, this hands-on workshop introduces the techniques behind graphic novel illustration and visual storytelling.
Participants will explore character design, humour and science communication while creating their own witty comics about the underwater world.
Perfect for young artists and curious storytellers, no experience required.
Suitable for all experience levels, ages: 8-14.

General information
- Please arrive in the museum foyer for registration 5–10 minutes prior to the program
- Parents/carers will be required to sign permission forms on the day
- Participants are fully supervised at all times during the programs
- Participants should bring their own drinks, lunch and snacks
- Please wear suitable clothing, sturdy shoes and sun protection for any time spent outdoors
- All workshop materials are supplied
- No printed tickets are necessary, we will check in via the guestlist
