Enjoy a comfortable environment for kids and adults with a variety of sensory differences. 

On Sensory-Friendly Sundays, our Kids Activity Space and selected exhibitions will be open extra early for a quieter experience and modified to suit people on the autism spectrum and with a range of differing abilities. 

Our trained staff and volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions you have and facilitate creative activities.

JULY PROGRAM 

Start time: Sensory Friendly Sundays access starts at 8.30am

You are welcome to arrive anytime before 11am and stay as long as you like. These holidays we will be providing access to our Imaginarium Trail spaces and the museum’s exhibitions for Sensory Friendly Sunday. Trained staff and volunteers will be on hand to facilitate creative activities.

Open to registered guests. Entry via Waterside Studio next to Yots café

8.30am–4pm
Imaginarium Trail

Drop in for sensory investigations, art-making, dress ups and games. Exclusive access for SFS guests is 8.30-11.30am.

8.30am–12pm
Sensory Friendly experiences in our Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.
Enjoy a quiet experience with reduced sound and ambient lighting levels across the lower level galleries. Get hands-on with interactive touch stations and tactile experiences of art materials and creature specimens facilitated by our exhibition officers.  

8.30am–4pm
Quiet Space
 
Additional rooms will be available for guests who require dedicated quiet space for breaks.

Sensory friendly Sunday is a new program at the museum. We'd love your feedback, so will send all attendees a short survey after the event for you to share your ideas.
