Step into the wondrous wild with Patch Theatre’s new immersive installation, Superluminal.
Blending bold visual design, collaborative storytelling, and interactive play, Superluminal is an enchanting and unmissable experience for young audiences.
As children enter Superluminal, they receive colour-changing lanterns to use throughout the installation. Guided by a performer, journey through interactive spaces, revealing hidden animal tracks and discovering aquatic and terrestrial animals from the past, present, and possible future. Children create their own imagined creatures, bring them to life with recorded sounds and spectacular rainbow lighting, and capture their fantastical shadows on a magical glow wall.
Superluminal is an engaging experience designed to ignite curiosity. A theatrical installation full of Patch’s award winning interactive light play.
Superluminal investigates nature’s extraordinary creatures, systems and beauty, and how time shapes them.

About Patch Theatre
Patch Theatre creates visually captivating performances especially for 4–8 year olds, exploring how children see the world. Their works place children at the centre of the performance, promoting imagination, wonder and discovery.
Founded in South Australia in 1972, Patch has produced over 100 unique works and won countless awards. Patch performances have been presented across Australia and the globe, capturing the imaginations of children worldwide.
Superluminal was codeveloped with children and inspired by the amazing collections of the South Australian Museum. It has been nominated for a Ruby Award for outstanding work in the arts and culture sector. This summer will be the first opportunity for audiences to see this amazing production since its premiere season at Illuminate Adelaide.
