Hon Don Harwin

Don Harwin served in the New South Wales Legislative Council for 23 years, including six as President and five as Leader of the Government. As a minister, his portfolio responsibilities included energy, resources, water utilities, industrial relations, the Public Service, arts, heritage and Aboriginal affairs. As Arts Minister, he secured over $2.5 billion in funding for more than 150 cultural infrastructure projects around NSW including the new Powerhouse Museum in Parramatta, secured the future of the National Art School and re-opened the Theatre Royal in Sydney.
Mr Harwin has also served on the boards of the Australia Council and the NSW State Records Authority and is currently Chairman of Music in the Regions Ltd.
