Dr Gabriel Pontes
Gabriel is a climate scientist and physical oceanographer at the University of New South Wales. Ever since he was a child, he was fascinated by the natural world—watching clouds drift across the sky, waves crash along the shore, and storms roll in from the ocean. This early curiosity about weather and the planet’s climate led him to pursue a career in climate science. Today, Gabriel studies how Earth’s climate has changed over millions of years—including times when there was no ice at the poles. By understanding the past, he hopes to help us better prepare for the changes our planet may face in the future.
