There’s boatloads of birthday fun to be had in our themed birthday parties.
Great fun for kids and less hassle for you. 

Choose from a Pirate’s Adventure or Under the Sea theme and enjoy an unforgettable entertaining experience as well as entry to the museum and vessels 

Each party includes:

  • Exclusive themed and decorated venue space from 10.30am – 12:30pm OR 2pm – 4pm
  • 2 hours entertainment time with your party hosts
  • 40 minute character guided treasure hunt and tour within the museum galleries (all ages) and access on board a vessel for kids 5+ years* (for safety reasons) 
  • Glitter tattoos and balloon art
  • Free time in the activity space with photo wall, dress ups, and creative activities (activities may include Making Pirate/Sailor Hats, DIY temporary tattoos or badges, model ships or periscopes, under the sea crowns or puppets etc.)
  • Party bag treat - a novelty toy or book from the store (treat varies according to stock and availability, may include sea animal putty, hatching eggs, submarine kits etc)

Catering and Birthday cake NOT included. 

BYO cake is permitted. 
No alcohol permitted at children’s parties for licencing and safety reasons.

Cost:
Total party package (up to 25 guests and includes access to the museum and vessels)

$700 per party / $650 for members.
Additional party guest tickets are $15 per person / $10 museum members.

Please note parties are only offered on Saturdays. 
During school holidays we don’t have any venues available for hosting private party groups.
Custom floor plans, high levels of customisation and change of venue is not included.
We do not host parties for first birthdays.

 

 


FAQS

We supply all furniture for the food area, gift table and the activity area, cleaning before and after your function, tablecloths, serviettes, paper cups, serving utensils, paper plates, iced water, cake cutting and candle lighting equipment, background music, bubble machine, event signage, ice buckets for chilled items, rubbish bins and the venue also includes a small kitchenette. 

Yes! You are encouraged to bring lolly bags if you wish, we can supply a museum branded paper bag and a gift of a small toy or book from the store to take home in their party bag.

Our activities cater for children aged 2-8 years’ old, however older or younger friends/ family can be invited to the party and will require a ticket if they participate in the activities. We do not host parties for first birthdays.

The package is inclusive of up to 25 guests (adult or child), additional guests can be accommodated at a cost of $15 per person ($10 members).

Please note that the maximum number of guests in the space is 35.

The birthday child and the party adults (the parents/carers) of the birthday child are included free of charge (and not included in the max attendance).

We will provide you with a link to additional tickets closer to the date of the event and you can adjust numbers up until the event start time as needed.

No. Party host families can drop off to the museum driveway. There is limited paid parking on the streets surrounding the museum, or plenty of secure parking with Harbourside Shopping Centre carpark.

Tickets validated at the museum entitle you to $15 all day parking.

We don’t provide balloon decorations -all our party decorations are reusable to comply with the museum’s environmental policies. However, guests are welcome to bring extra decorations of their choice for the party tables.

Parties run for 2-2.5 hours. We recommend the following structure

Activity 1- 30 mins – arrivals, drinks/snacks as you wish, face paint/ tattoos, balloon sculptures and meet your hosts

Activity 2- 45 mins- group departs for character tour/ treasure hunt and games in museum galleries/ vessel of your choice (vessels for kids 5+)

Activity 3- 45 mins- group returns to party room and enjoys food/ drinks plus creative making activities with your hosts .

Activity 4- 15 mins- Singing happy Birthday, hosts help you cut and serve the cake and finish the party. Guests depart.

After entering the museum through the main foyer, meet the party hosts outside Waterside Studio.

Clients can access the venue from 10 AM or 1.30PM (30 minutes before party starts) and guests from 10.30 AM or 2PM.

Guests are free to explore the museum galleries or vessels whilst waiting. 

Guest’s parents can drop off to waterside studio and do not have to stay for the event.

Due to construction at the museum during 2024, the party venue is subject to change depending on accessibility. Venue confirmation will be sent closer to date.
