Please support our current appeal

We are raising much-needed funds to support the conservation and interpretation of over 4,000 objects from one of Australia’s worst maritime disasters. On the evening of 20 August 1857, the Dunbar was wrecked off South Head, Sydney. All 63 passengers drowned and, of the 59 crew, only able seaman James Johnson survived.

The museum holds Australia’s most extensive collection of artefacts from the wreck site. Your donation will help us make them accessible to all.
