The Australian Register of Historic Vessels is a major initiative to facilitate the preservation, study and documentation of historic Australian vessels built pre-1960.You can also locate maritime museums with historic vessels through the Collections Australia Network archived website.
To help locate pictures of veteran ships and maritime museums in Australia, the Graeme Andrews Collection of historic photographs at the Sydney Heritage Fleet is a very good source of pictorial material to start your search also try Trove and Flickr.
