You'll enjoy a beautifully designed dinner by award-winning caterers Laissez-faire, music by members of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, live and silent auctions, and fascinating stories of shipwrecks and maritime mysteries by guest speaker and philanthropist John Mullen AM, Maritime Museum Chairman.
The Maritime Museum needs to raise more than 40% of its total costs each year - events such as this fundraising gala will help us to preserve and share Australia's maritime heritage. One of our current exciting projects is the acquisition of the iconic Souter Murals by legendary Australian artist David Henry Souter (1862 - 1935). Originally painted for the Bondi Surf Bathers’ Lifesaving Club between 1920 and 1934, the murals depict themes that have helped to shape our national identity – diggers at Gallipoli, bush pioneers and bronzed surfers.
