Family program

Creative and educational activities for 2-5 year-olds and their parents/carers.

Explore the galleries, sing and dance in interactive tours with costumed guides. Enjoy creative free play, craft, games and story time in our themed activity area.

Entry to Mini mariners includes access to exhibitions that are within the tour. During school holidays it also includes access to our Kids on Deck activity space.

Booked playgroups welcome.
Online bookings essential.

November - Silly Sea Creatures

Tuesdays 4, 11, 18 and 25
Saturday 4 and 11

Wobble like a jellyfish, glide like a tortoise and snap like a shark as we make our way through the museum to discover the magnificent world of creatures that live under the sea. Enjoy a touch tour of sea-specimens and objects, listen to stories, and create your own watercolour painting or sea creature headdress.

December - no mini mariners sessions

We are taking a little break in December as we install our summer program which will be running from 19 December 2025 - 2 February 2026.

Mini Mariners will return in January 2026.

January - Fun in the Sun

Tuesdays 6, 13, 20 and 27
Saturdays 10, 17 and 24

*Summer holiday sessions start earlier at 10am and 11am

Let’s slip, slap, slop and head down to the seashore. Discover intertidal animals and beach activities as we sing songs, dance and tour through the museum’s galleries to “the beach” exhibition. Enjoy a musical storytime, craft and sensory play as you decorate your own silly starfish sunglasses, make a jellyfish sculpture or a crafty crab puppet to take home.
