Each school holidays, kids aged 8–14 can learn new creative skills with industry professionals and educators in our hands-on workshops.
The museum runs different 1 and 2 day workshops every school holidays.
Wild Wears - Costume Making Workshop
1 day workshop
Wednesday 14 or Thursday 15 January
10.00am – 4.00pm
Kids aged 8-14 can create their own wild wearable art in this fun-filled 1-day costume making workshop. Learn the basics of costume design and creation from award winning artist and performer Alli Sebastian Wolf of Deepsea Astronauts whose colourful costumed creatures have performed across Australia. Be inspired by the animals in our permanent collections and newest exhibition Ocean Photographer of the Year and transform recycled materials into your very own wearable designs. Participants will bring their finished creation to life through performance and roving skills.
All materials provided.
Suitable for ages 8–14, all levels of experience.

Alli Sebastian Wolf
Multi-award-winning artist and writer Alli Sebastian Wolf is an experienced and adventurous facilitator of workshops for people of all ages and abilities. They have travelled round the world teaching with organisations including Cambodian circus Phare Ponleu Selpak, and renowned international story telling organisation The Moth. Alli’s passion is helping people tap into their creativity and achieve more than they thought possible.
Claymation Creations
1 day workshop
Wednesday 21 or Thursday 22 January
10.00am – 4.00pm
Discover how to produce your own stop-motion animations in this fun filled 1-day workshop. Dive into summer exhibitions including The Beach and Ocean Photographer of the Year for inspiration. Learn techniques in building fun and engaging visual narratives frame by frame with clay as you create your own animations to share out of polymer clay and other materials!
Finished works will be showcased on our museum’s Youtube channel.

General information
- Please arrive in the museum foyer for registration 5–10 minutes prior to the program
- Parents/carers will be required to sign permission forms on the day
- Participants are fully supervised at all times during the programs
- Participants should bring their own drinks, lunch and snacks
- Please wear suitable clothing, sturdy shoes and sun protection for any time spent outdoors
- All workshop materials are supplied
- No printed tickets are necessary, we will check in via the guestlist
