When I think about how being a family of a migrant has shaped me three things come to mind: diversity, communication and growing as a person. My world has always evolved around my Italian heritage, the Australian way of life and acknowledgement of the First Nations land I have been born on.

The diversity in my daily life has manifested within me a deep curiosity to learn and keep on learning. This diversity has developed my confidence in communicating with people from different cultural backgrounds. I can empathise, acknowledge/respect differences and varying viewpoints. My ongoing growth as a person has strengthen my communication and relationships.

I am perennially motivated to broadening my horizons, to explore and never limiting myself to the confines of one culture or ideology. Diversity, communication and growing as a person have all played their part in influencing my values of tolerance and respect. I feel privileged to be the person I am today as result of being born in a family of a migrant.
