Program structure

Pirate School

Students swap their school subjects for lessons in how to become a fully-fledged pirate! At the pirate school Mathematics becomes counting treasure, English becomes speaking like a pirate and hearing pirate tales, PE becomes learning a pirate jig and so on - activities vary depending on the age of the students. Museum teacher guides dress up and have pirate personas for the duration of the program.

Treasure Hunt

Students embark on a hunt around the museum and on a vessel to look for the treasure of the pirate school principal, Black-Heart Boris. Along the way they learn the finer points of following a map, looking for clues and find the elusive 'X' that marks the spot where the treasure sits! At the end of the program students are awarded their own pirate licence to take home and decorate - a small portion of the treasure is even entrusted to the teachers to distribute back at school!
