The National Maritime Museum Greenwich's Monuments and memorials website allows you to find Titanic memorials worldwide.

Objects and archives


For the 100 year anniversary there National Archives UK have a website called Titanic 100 year anniversary includes statistics about the vessel stories of the crew and passengers and highlights objects records and photos from their collection. There's also an interesting podcast called Titanic the official story.

Other educational resources at the National archives include the telegram recording the sinking of the Titanic which is part of their "Treasures from the National Archives" collection which can be explored online along with copies of crew lists etc.

Australians


Australians on board the Titanic (PDF) is produced by the Museum of Victoria and is a short informative and handy guide to Australians on board.

Safety of life at sea (SOLAS)


The International Maritime Organisation's handy guide to lessons learned from the Titanic disaster that were incorporated into the safety of life at sea convention (PDF) first adopted in 1914. Good for school projects.

Titanic website at the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum is a fantastic new source of information about the Titanic shipbuilding technology during the period and social history of the area and accompanies their new Titanica living history experience.

Also in Belfast is the Titanic Experience, a tourist attraction and urban development in the dockyards where Titanic was built.

Our colleagues at the National Maritime Museum Greenwich in their ships and seafarers site have produced some very useful guides to the Titanic showcasing objects and photos from their collection and also include detailed bibliographies relating to the Titanic and authoritative answers to frequently asked questions.

Merseyside Maritime Museum also produce a detailed guide for researchers.

The Father Browne photographic collection also has some important and well known photographs of the Titanic.

The Library of Congress photostream on Flickr commons has some interesting photos of Titanic survivors.

Titanic demographics is an interesting website that looks at the demographics of passengers and crew.

Our library research guide for Shipwrecks salvage and corrosion includes some articles relating to the corrosion and conservation of Titanic artefacts and the ethics of salvaging from shipwrecks like the Titanic where there has been significant loss of life.
